Wrecking Heaven: a New Smoky Treat from Wild Heaven & Wrecking Bar


Just in time for the kickoff of Atlanta Beer Week, we’ve got some very exciting news which includes a couple of firsts for us and our friends over at Wrecking Bar Brew Pub – we’ve just successfully completed our very first collaboration beer, a Polish-style Grätzer, and it’ll be the first brew that Wrecking Bar distributes. So yeah, this is kind of a big deal. We brewed it for a couple of reasons – to promote Georgia brewers and the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild (GCBG), plus we wanted to do something special for our neighbors during Atlanta Beer Week.

Smoked Wheat Malt

‘Wrecking Heaven’ is a Grätzer, which is a little-known Polish style that is brewed with smoked wheat malt. We added the twist of some Special B malt as well as using Magnum and Nelson Sauvin hops. It clocks in at around 4.2% ABV and is a deliciously sessionable beer with smoky notes and a piney viniferous nose and finish. It is fermented with a Kolsch yeast and has a dry crispness through the finish with hints of tropical fruits and citrus. It’s pretty much the best beer ever, would you expect anything less from us and the Wrecking Bar crew?

So by now you’re probably wondering ‘where can I get in on this smoky deliciousness?’ Well, you’re in luck because we have two easy ways for you to check it out this weekend before it’s distributed to select local pubs around town:

1. Come to the launch party Friday (TONIGHT!), 6pm at Wrecking Bar

2. Ask for a Wrecking Heaven at the Wild Heaven tent at Decatur Craft Beer Fest on Saturday

If you can’t make it to either of those most crucial events, don’t worry – we’ll announce the participating pubs next week once they’re all confirmed.
